Engelbert Humperdinck has sold millions of copies of his hit songs, but nothing makes the singer happier than his four kids. The “Release Me” performer is the proud dad of his adult children, Bradley Dorsey, Jason Dorsey, Scott Dorsey and Louise Dorsey.
Engelbert shares his beautiful family with his late wife, Patricia Healey. The “Spanish Eyes” singer and the White Bus actress first crossed paths in 1953 but waited over a decade to tie the knot. After marrying Patricia in 1964, the two welcomed their kids.
Around the time Engelbert became a father, his Hollywood career was also bigger than ever. The “Love Me With All Your Heart” crooner opened up to Closer Weekly about what it was like juggling his showbiz career with his new role of being a dad.
“That was a very hot time in my life. My traveling schedule was outrageous. One time, I did 80 concerts in a row!” he explained in September 2020. “It was hard. My four children were tiny.”
Because Engelbert was performing “around 300 shows a year” at the time, he “never got to see very much” of Brad, Jason, Scott and Louise when they were growing up. Fortunately, he had the undying support of his incredible spouse.
“My wife did a great job of raising them,” he said of Patricia. “She would always put a little threat on: ‘If you keep this up, I’ll tell your father when he comes home!’ But I wasn’t that strict.”
Sadly, Patricia died following a “brave” battle with Alzheimer’s disease at age 85 in February 2021. Her heartbreaking death came just two days after Engelbert asked for prayers following Patricia’s positive test result with COVID-19. “Her Alzheimer’s and the blow from Covid have left her in need of all the love she ever gave out to come back to her a million-fold,” he wrote on Facebook.
At the time of her death, the “Way It Used to Be” singer revealed Patricia was surrounded by their kids, Louise, Jason and Brad, while Scott was “on FaceTime.” Alongside a sweet photo of the couple from back in the day, Engelbert said they were “heartbroken” over the death of his “darling wife.”
“We prayed as a family, blessed her with the water from Lourdes and off she went, ushered into the arms of Jesus with help from the generous heart filled prayers from all around the world,” he emotionally wrote. “We love you beyond words, forever and always. Goodnight, my baby.” There’s no doubt the musician is holding his kids close during this difficult time.
